THE IDEA

SYNOPSIS

Nat Geo’s ‘One Strange Rock’ is designed to give viewers an astronaut’s perspective of earth – so to promote it, we created a first-of-its-kind immersive experience designed to do the same thing.

THE APPROACH

One Strange Rock from Darren Aronofsky and NatGeo is a mind-bending and thrilling visual adventure designed to show audiences a view of their world few have ever seen – through the eyes of an astronaut.

But only 536 brave souls have actually been to space. It requires years of training and education, millions of dollars, and state-of-the-art technology. So, to promote the show we thought: how can we recreate that experience without requiring viewers to leave the planet?

The Astronaut Reality Helmet

Housed in a replica space helmet, the projection technology creates an immersive viewing experience through a unique combination of laser projection, custom fish-eye optics, and in-built audio - the helmet provides a space experience no VR headset can deliver.

We debuted the 25 Astronaut Reality Helmets at the 'One Strange Rock' press screening and then sent them on the road to science centers, schools, and museums around the country to give everyone a new perspective of earth - from Earth.
